EKUC Annex Office Officially Inaugurated to Accommodate Expanding Ministries

EKUC 25 August 2026

On Monday, 17th August 2026, the East Kenya Union Conference (EKUC) officially inaugurated its newly renovated Annex office, strategically located within the Central Kenya Conference (CKC) grounds. The expansion was necessitated by a growing need for more office space to accommodate EKUC’s expanding departmental leadership.
The dedication ceremony was led by EKUC President Pr. Joel Okindo, alongside his fellow officers: Executive Secretary Pr. Arphaxard Kiurire, Treasurer Eld. Lameck Anyona, and Associate Treasurer Eld. Nicholas Ondicho.
They were joined by invited guests including CKC leadership led by Executive Secretary Pr. Paul Owuor, as well as representatives from the Nairobi Adventist Hospital (NAH), Adventist Sacco, and the Karura SDA Church and School.

A Call for Excellence and Unity

Speaking at the event, Pr. Joel Okindo noted that this expansion is just one of many vital projects his leadership is prioritizing during this quinquennium. He challenged all entities within the EKUC territory to emulate this step by upgrading their church offices to reflect the honor of God.
Pr. Okindo implored all workers and leaders to desire excellence, love, and unity, fostering working relationships so exemplary that others will naturally want to emulate them.
This inauguration takes place even as the main EKUC Headquarters undergoes major renovations aimed at giving the Union a facelift and providing an optimal working environment for its staff. Treasurer Eld. Lameck Anyona expressed his gratitude, describing the beautiful upgrade of the Annex building as a long-held dream and a truly answered prayer.
Fostering Closer Collaboration
The physical proximity of the new Annex to the CKC headquarters is expected to strengthen institutional ties. During the ceremony, Pr. Kiurire encouraged the CKC office to take full advantage of having the Union offices within the same compound. This sentiment was warmly received by CKC Executive Secretary Pr. Owuor, who celebrated the move, noting that this closeness will translate into a tighter collaboration between the Conference and the Union.
Neighboring institutions on the CKC grounds echoed these sentiments, praising the initiative and promising a highly cooperative working relationship with the EKUC leadership.
Expanded Capacity for Ministry
Previously, the Annex building housed only the Voice of Prophecy (VOP) department. Following the renovations, the facility has been expanded to accommodate several key departments and their directors:

  • Adventist Youth Ministry, Public Campus Ministry, Chaplaincy & Music: Led by Pr. Kathurima Kiengo
  • Evangelism, Campmeeting Co-ordination & Adventist Men’s Ministry: Led by Pr. Julius Bichang’a
  • Adventist Muslim Relations, Adventist Mission & Somali Co-ordination: Led by Pr. Stephen Kombe
  • Publishing, VOP & Spirit of Prophecy (SOP): Led by Mrs. Christabel Kanini
