YOUR WORDS WIELD MUCH POWER
By Pr. Paul Mwangi
“You have been trapped by what you said, ensnared by the words of your mouth.”
– Proverbs 2:12 –
Your life is controlled by the words you speak either towards; righteousness or wickedness, sickness or health, failures or success, defeat or victory, fear or courage, hatred or love, sorrow or happiness, poverty or riches, light or darkness.
It is no secret that what you speak easily traps and takes you where you have spoken. The scripture confirms this:
Proverbs 6:2 “You have been trapped by what you said, ensnared by the words of your mouth.”
Proverbs 13:2 “From the fruit of their lips people enjoy good things, but the unfaithful have an appetite for violence.”
As Christ’s followers, only positive words need to proceed out of our mouth but, the tongue can be unruly! How then can we control the it? Choose not to speak any thought or a feeling that is not in harmony with God’s word. Why? Because what we speak connects us either with dark forces whose Commander is Satan or Holy forces, whose King is Jesus Christ.
Speech Determines Success
Good words bring blessing and favor. Wicked words bring pain and destruction. Your mouth has much potential for good or evil in business or relationships. If you think you can talk any way you wish, you are going down, soon.
What a simple way to advance! What an easy rule for success! God inspired Solomon to tell you a secret about life – gracious words will get you ahead; cruel or foolish speech will bring your ruin. You can change your life for the better today by ruling your tongue.
Several perfect examples of the power speech and its impact in life are recorded in the Holy Writ. The first concerns Joseph, Jacobs favourite son. How did he get out of the pit to prison, eventually rising from prison to the throne? It was all by speech. His speech showed his excellent spirit. Genesis 41:38-45 “So Pharaoh asked them, “Can we find anyone like this man, one in whom is the spirit of God?” Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one so discerning and wise as you. As for David, how did he get promoted from a shepherd to the king’s favorite? It was because of gracious speech (I Sam 18:1-5). How did Daniel rule in Babylon with many kings? By an excellent spirit and speech (Dan 6:1-3). The rule is simple – “One who loves a pure heart and who speaks with grace will have the king for a friend.” (Proverbs 22:11). If no one has recently commended your speech, you need the proverb.
Your speech can bring good or violence to your life. God and good men love those who speak well, but they despise those who speak wickedly. What do your words produce in the lives of others? Because that is what you receive. “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof” (Proverbs 18:21). Speech is that important – death or life! Use or abuse it to your profit or destruction.
Your mouth is not your own, no matter what your deceitful heart says (Psalms 12:4; Jeremiah 17:9). God created the ability of speech, and He gave you a mouth. He expects you to obey His rules regarding conversation. He knows every word that you speak as well as every word that you hold back. Through Matthew, God says, “But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. 37 For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” (Matthew 12:36-37)
Speak what God says about your life not what you think or feel. Suppress your thoughts and feelings and cancel them by speaking to your situations in harmony with the word of God. Speak your; Physical health, mental health, spiritual victory, financial breakthroughs, success of your youthful life, success of your marriage, success of your children and their financial stability, success, prosperity, possibilities where there is impossibility. Then when God performs or does wonders in your life, don’t forget to utter words of thankfulness.
A Word of Blessings to you and your relations today.
